Let's Go! Calikids

Trish McLeod

It is with deep sadness that we share with you the news that our calisthenics community has lost yet another of our greats, Mrs Trish McLeod.

Trish passed away on Wednesday 27th January, surrounded by her loved ones, and at peace after a battle with illness.

Having performed from a young age at the club her mum started, Dorset Calisthenics Club, Trish spent many, many years as both the Club Administrator and Treasurer, as well as producing many of the costumes. We are sure that past members of Dorset CC will share fond memories of Trish during their time, remembering her passion for the club.

With her unwavering love of calisthenics, Trish also served the broader calisthenics community, commencing in 1986 on the inaugural Committee of Management of Calisthenics Victoria (CVI) where she went on to hold several roles, in particular that of Treasurer, for almost 30 years. And like the other women of Trish’s ilk, her dedication to calisthenics did not stop there. She was heavily involved with the Victorian State Team both as Committee Member and Stage Manager and again, we know that her passing will be felt by our interstate friends as well as those of us here in Victoria.

Trish’s selfless generosity of time and knowledge also included volunteering as a skills supervisor and a panels assessor, roles in which she was held in the highest esteem.

In 2000 Trish was awarded a medal by the Australian Government to recognise her service to the calisthenics community and in 2003 she became a Life Member of Calisthenics Victoria.

We will remember Trish for her wisdom, her dedication, her passion, and of course, for her smile and raspy laugh that filled any room she was in. Trish, you will be sadly missed and your many contributions have impacted generations of people from within our community. Our condolences to Trish’s family and friends and may the memories you hold dear, hold you in this time.
